Dear Mom,
Everyday I find myself more and more like you and I couldn’t be prouder. You are the most selfless, caring, thoughtful, loving woman I have ever known. You give up so much for other people’s happiness and somehow that strikes all the happy in you. I have never met someone who laughs at themselves as much as you or anyone who is as funny (yes, i admitted that!). You have killer dance moves which we all get to enjoy when you break them out. Your heart is always in the right place and you find joy in the small things. Working for an amazing life has always been a priority for you and we all strive to be that great and independent. You have taught us how to hold our own and to always stand up for ourselves because nobody else will do it for us. Except you have always had our backs. The way you love and carry on traditions is heart warming and I can’t wait to pass them onto our children some day.
We have had some big battles but they don’t last long. We end up laughing and moving forward. You have held me in my darkest moments and there is nothing I don’t share with you. Some may find that weird but you are my best friend, my safe haven, my fighter. You carried me first in the womb and now you carry me through life and all the hardships. You don’t judge. You give advice and you’re forever pure and genuine. You know me better than I know myself. You’re my guiding star and there isn’t anything we can’t do as long as we’re together.
I will forever cherish our happiest times together. Singing in the car, morning coffee, tanning and trips to Marshall’s, baking Christmas cookies and laughing til our tummies hurt, summer days in the sun, quiet afternoons watching Hallmark movies, BBQs with the whole family, Sunday dinners or random Wednesday dinners plus so many more memories. You are the best person to hang out with because you go off the cliche “you make your own happiness” and that’s beyond true. You will go out of your way to see me smile and I am forever grateful.
Mom, when I met Carlos you beamed from ear to ear. We talked about everything and you knew all I had been through and you told me day after day “honey, you deserve this happiness and love.” You are the reason I didn’t block that blessing. You are my voice of reason and the reason I am strong, responsible, caring and empathetic. You have taught me all I know and I will not disappoint you. I strive to make you proud and I am so blessed to have you as my mom and best friend. Writing this has been easy. You inspire me to be great and you hold me true to my word and actions. You believe in me even when I struggle to believe in myself.
With all this being said, you’re an incredible mother. Everything you do, doesn’t go unnoticed. Through all the bad and good times I will forever be here for you as you have for me. You instilled so much into my brain, heart, and soul. You have made me who I am today and who I will be for years to come. You are appreciated, you are special and you are cherished. Seeing you smile is my favorite sight and hearing you laugh is my favorite sound. Never forget how important you are to us and how much we love you.
